can i move to america by myself and go to high school? (FROM UK)?
im 16 and i want to go to america and go to high schooll to get my A-Levels instead of in england. is it possible for me to go at my age by myself? and what would be a good place to go to. thanks in advance :)

Well technically you aren't old enough to be on your own. Since most school require to see your parents to attend to get you into highschool plus birth records and addresses. If you have the money for an apartment and car and all that stuff then go right ahead. GoodLuck! =]

The only way would to be an exchange student, other then that you won't be able to just come over to go to school at that age. And school is different here...we really don't have "A-levels", and in order to graduate, you need to stay in school until you're 17 or 18.

Are you crazy. 16 and by yourself? You'll be pimped out within two weeks. If your serious, then check on exchange student programs, otherwise do yourself a favor and stop thinking america is a sweet and innocent place. You'll get straight jacked here with that "trusting" attitued.

High school would be difficult for you, especially as US schools don't offer A-levels and would require you to be there for the whole four years of high school. You could however look into going to university in America. This isn't cheap, but it would give you a great experience. I went to college in San Diego, California, and I would absolutely recommend it. You could contact individual universities for details of financial aid and scholarships that would be available to international students. Good luck!

US high schools don't offer A levels. The closest US equivalent is either the IB diploma, which not every school offers, or AP classes and exams, which many schools do. You can't move to the US on your own and attend a public school (a school you don't pay for.) You won't be given a visa. The exception would be if you enrol in a US private school (a school where you pay tuition to attend, and can live there - a boarding school, like Eaton and etc.) You'd be able to attend a school like that, live on campus, and etc., as an international student. Many of those schools offer the IB diploma, and AP classes/exams. There are even some British schools in the US that offer A levels.
