If I go to medical school in the UK (England), will it be extremely difficult to come back to the United Stat?
es to practice? I am American, but I need to come to England to attend medical school.

I lived in UK for three years. Wonderful. London mainly. But I was QUITE READY to come back to the USA and in fact could NOT have stayed there any longer. I am fairly certain this applies to MOST people from the USA. Has to do with sunlight and a lot of things. Where in the USA would you do a Residency and in what? Check with possible places. If you are willing to work as military doctor, say in the Navy or Air Force, they would likely bend over backwards to set you up, another possibility. There are Residencies just like everywhere else. If the USA does not take you, no problem, CANADA will. That all is a long way off in the future to be worrying about now. Generally, I recommend a three-year focus for planning with MOST ALL the work being done in the HERE and NOW. Misuse of the present moment changes the entire future, and other things can happen too. Thus the saying, 'the best laid plans of mice and men [often go astray] and leave us not but grief and pain for promised joy.' Not to be discouraging. Just pointing out it never turns out QUITE the way one expects. But you must work on your goals nevertheless. Persistence and steadfastness towards the lesser objectives which add up to the whole and to that distant point you want. On top of all that, everything is constantly changing -- faster than ever. We all need a solid kernel of wisdom and good practice to see us through. Hang in there, and keep clicking things off.

I'm an American comming to the UK for school. What do I bring
I'm an American comming to the UK for school. What do I bring?!?
I am comming to London for a semester abroad, 3 months, and they are housing us in Kensington. i'm only allowed by the airline 2 suitcases. what is the weather like from sept-dec? heavy coat? snow? any useful items that you can think of? any fun activities? good pubs that you can recommend?

well if u really wanna blend in with other americans you should: gain 75 pounds eat Mickey D's everyday and drop out of school.

Condoms. Lots and lots of condoms. Bags of them, really. And be sure to mind the gap.

Sweaters ("jumpers"), fall ("autumn") and winter shirts, definitely a heavy coat, but also a good cool weather jacket.

Make sure you take a raincoat. Anything else you can get in London. You may want to check your grammar so that the Brits don't take the piss out of you too much รข€”and by the way, if they're 'pissed', it doesn't mean they hate you, but rather that they're drunk... Enjoy London, one of the world's best cities.

Patience and a good attitude. Leave arrogance behind and you'll have no problems at all... Bring warm clothing, as if it were snowing...

It's changeable. Do bring a light anorak and a warm coat.... You can carry your coat, not pack it, tell air staff you are going to England and they will understand. Don't pack too much cos you will buy back souvenirs/clothes from UK anyway. Also, wear a pair of your jeans and sneakers, cos they weigh a lot. Don't carry too much paper/books if you can help it, they weigh a lot, too. Shampoos and stuff like that you can buy here. Discuss with fellow students what you will be bringing so that you can pool resources eg dictionaries. Have fun! Any suggestions to going to the states to study?
