Question for UK parents and school: Do schoolchildren ever repeat a year in school

Question for UK parents and school: Do schoolchildren ever repeat a year in school?
I'm from America and it isn't unusual for children to repeat the year in school if they aren't meeting standards. I've heard that students never repeat a year. There are no "grades" but it's which year of school you're in. The year of school you're in depends on the child's age. Is that correct? What do you do with kids who are falling behind? Do you keep promoting them to the next year in school? How does that work over there?

Nope, there are some who really need too, but they don't. But we do get skipped.

we live in scotland and in my childs school it is common for children to repeat a year, 3 children are in my childs class who are primary 4 but are in his p3 class as they weren't ready to move on, it depends on the school, their funding as outside classroom assistants can assist children who are falling behind within the class, but obviously this must be done before it is too late and money. children are assessed on their work and performance, as well as sitting tests in p2

Children In the UK don't repeat school years. If a child is developing slowly, they may start school a year later but they are never held back to repeat a year. If children are falling behind, they will work at a slower pace than the rest of the class or they may repeat the course the next year. They may also move to a different class but they stay with children their own age. In highschool, children who fall behind may sit the course over three years instead of two for example and if the fail, they will resit the course the year after, if they choose to do so. Hope this helps :)

not that hard =)

It depends which school you attended here, if it was a top school, you have good grades, it should not be that difficult. The Schools, especially private schools in Europe and the UK have a more advanced curriculum, especially in Literature, History, Science and Mathematics.

It varies, some boarding schools in the UK are very selective. Most, however, are less so. If you do so you should choose a school which runs an IB program which is more similar in character to the US system (and better than A levels anyway). Oh and it helps if you can write large cheques.

Learners from poor families who need to have a higher education will normally have to acquire a loan from financial institutions in order to get an education. The government, through the local banks will advance such credit to students and have them pay them off once they have started earning. This may sound good but not until the former student is unable to pay off such debts. http://www.worldbestloans.com/student-loans.htm This is due to the high interest that such loans end up attracting making, it impossible for such a person to pay off the debt. Sometimes the student may stay for long before he can get employment, meaning the amount to pay continues to escalate. In cases like these, the debtor needs to get student loan help in order to keep abreast with such debt.

The FAFSA can also be used in the U.K. at certain universities. A quick Google search will give you the correct link. Beyond that you are looking at taking out a personal loan from a qualified lender or applying for scholarships that you are eligible for.

people she says she's going to one of the only private schools that doesn't wear uniforms, so stop telling her to wear a uniform! Just wear whatever clothing you would normally wear here! There's not that much of a difference. If you want to be noticed, where one "statement piece" with each outfit. For whole outfit ideas, check out places like polyvore. People use pictures and put together outfits. There are literally thousands of them. If you don't like the price of the stuff they used, just look around at cheaper stores like H&M and Forever 21 for an alternative. http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/search.sets?query=clothing for this link, i searched "clothing". On the left, theirs a whole list of tags ranging from colors to different adjectives. Just click the tag you want for the color or style you want. Start out really basic by not tagging anything and just take a look. Then if you find a color or style you know you want, just click on that word from the list. easy. Now. For the statement pieces, try i really noticable necklace or a bright bag, or sweet shoes. That'll make people notice you in a good way, as it'll catch there eye and spark they're interest. Once they notice the statement piece, they'll soon look at everything else you're wearing. How you said it should be cold, try not to cover youself up in one puffy jacket. Instead, wear layers. That way, you don't have to wear a huge jacket, which would cover up what you're wearing. tanktops underneith shirts, loose shirt over tight shirt, stuff like that. Once it gets colder, find a cool stylish jacket. Just as a tip, if you're looking for clothing under the category of "basics" like cami's and plain tshirts, there's no point in getting them at a more expensive store. Look to forever 21, as you can get camis for 3 bucks and t shirts for 5. that way, you'll have more money for clothing that, well, isn't the basics, like a stylish top. stores to look at: www.charlotterusse.com www.forever21.com www.wetseal.com If you don't want to shop at all, still use polyvore, and compare items they used to stuff you already have. then just put your stuff together to match the picture.
